The Challenge
Chatswood Public School is dedicated to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for its students. They sought to enhance its ventilation systems to meet fire safety compliance standards. Additionally, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a heightened focus on reducing the spread of infectious diseases through improved indoor air quality. To address these multifaceted challenges, the school collaborated with Airocle.
The Solution
Airocle, in partnership with Chatswood Public School and Aces Air Conditioning, developed a comprehensive solution to meet the school’s ventilation and fire safety compliance requirements. The project included the installation of Airocle’s advanced ventilation systems tailored to the school’s specific needs.
For fire safety compliance, four Airocle 8 Series roof vents were added to the building, each equipped with actuators. The actuators were designed with a failsafe mechanism, utilising fusible link systems that would melt and open in the event of a fire, facilitating smoke and heat extraction to enhance safety.
To meet fire compliance standards and ensure proper ventilation, a total of nine 5 Series roof vents were added throughout the school. Electric dampers were integrated into these ventilation units to provide precise control and airflow management. Airocle’s flexibility allowed for the installation of vents of varying sizes, accommodating the diverse needs of the school’s different spaces.
In addition to these ventilation components, booster fans were strategically added to enhance airflow where needed, optimising indoor air quality and compliance with fire safety standards.
Airocle’s comprehensive approach included supplying, delivering, and installing all ventilation components, ensuring a seamless integration of the systems into the school’s infrastructure.
The Results
The collaboration between Chatswood Public School, Airocle, and Aces Air Conditioning resulted in a successful enhancement of the school’s ventilation and fire safety systems.
The addition of Airocle’s 8 Series roof vents, equipped with fire safety actuators and electric dampers, respectively, ensured compliance with fire safety standards. The failsafe fusible link systems provided an added layer of protection in the event of a fire, enhancing the safety of students and staff.
Furthermore, the installation of these ventilation systems played a crucial role in addressing indoor air quality concerns, particularly in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Improved ventilation helped reduce the spread of infectious diseases and created a healthier learning environment.
